Tooth preservation - so that you have a lifetime of bite

Healthy teeth need two things: an intact tooth substance and strong roots. Unfortunately, we are usually not given both for life. This makes regular dental prophylaxis all the more important. With their help we can detect possible defects at an early stage and can act in time. This is our goal as a dentist in Munich.

Depending on the severity of the defect, we will then offer you the appropriate treatment options in our dental practice in Munich based on the latest knowledge:

Small to medium-sized carious defects can be treated very well with the classic filling therapy. First of all, we completely free the tooth from caries. We then fill the resulting cavity with a special composite resin - a material that is harmless to health and comes very close to the natural tooth colour. Perfect transitions between the tooth and the filling are crucial for a permanently successful treatment, so that no new bacteria can penetrate the tooth substance. That is why we always work with magnifying glasses and thus ensure the highest precision.

Inlays are the method of choice when a tooth has extensive damage. The cause is usually caries. In the first step we therefore remove all carious areas from the tooth. Then we rebuild it with the help of an inlay to ensure a perfect fit. Therefore, each inlay is a custom-made product that requires the highest precision. And you can get this from your dentist in Munich in the practice of Dr. med. dent. Anja Geisler M.Sc.

We guarantee this precision by taking exact impressions after the treatment and preparation of the affected tooth. These impressions serve as a template for the individual inlay production by our master dental laboratory in Munich. In the case of inlays made of high-strength ceramic, even the colour of the material is matched exactly to your natural tooth colour so that the inlay cannot be seen afterwards.
Alternatively, we also manufacture inlays from gold. This precious metal is softer than modern high-tech ceramics and does not break. It is therefore often the better choice for patients with particularly strong bites or for teeth grinding. Important: The costs of dental treatment with high-quality inlays are not covered by the statutory health insurance.

A partial crown or crown may be necessary if the tooth substance is severely damaged or if a root canal treatment has been carried out. In these cases, the crown completely seals the affected tooth and thus protects it from further damage. In addition, aesthetic reasons can also play a role, for example to restore a broken tooth to its original appearance in shape and colour.
As a dentist Munich for the highest demands, we therefore work almost exclusively with partial crowns and crowns made of full ceramic. These meet the highest demands in terms of aesthetics and durability. They are manufactured in cooperation with our dental laboratory Seitz - in certified quality and with the greatest care.

In the case of severe caries or after accidents, bacteria can penetrate deep into the tooth interior and enter the root canal. This cavity contains the dental nerve, whose tissue becomes inflamed through contact with bacteria. The consequences are often painful. Severe inflammation can lead to the nerve tissue dying. In the past, a tooth diseased in this way had to be removed, but today it can almost always be preserved - with a state-of-the-art root canal treatment at your dentist in Munich: Dr. med. dent. Anja Geisler M.Sc.

The most important goal of the painless root canal treatment is the preservation of teeth. To achieve this, the causes of the inflammation must first be completely removed. For this reason, we clean the affected root canals using the most modern procedures and then seal them so that no more bacteria can enter. The most important treatment steps at a glance:

Electrical determination of the root canal length

First we determine the length of the root canals. In our dental practice in Munich, we use a tried and tested, state-of-the-art procedure for this. It determines the exact length of the canals by means of electrical resistance measurements.

Preparation and disinfection of the root canals

For the preparation of the root canal system we work with rotating nickel-titanium files. This method allows a thorough mechanical cleaning of the canals and preserves the tooth substance. In order to kill the bacteria completely, the canal system is additionally treated and disinfected with special rinsing solutions. We shield the affected tooth from the rest of the oral cavity with the help of a rubber band, the so-called rubber dam, so that no saliva gets into the root canals.

Closure of the root canals

After this treatment, the sewer system must first dry. Then we close the canals permanently with a thermoplastic filling material (gutta-percha) and special root canal cement.

Note: The statutory health insurance companies partially cover these services.
